Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi was scheduled to release in theatres on January 10th but the film is yet to get clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
After reviewing the movie on January 7th the CBFC reportedly asked the makers to make around 23–24 cuts. Most of the suggested cuts are said to be related to scenes showing the anti-Hindi agitation. Reports say the film may receive its certificate today.
Director Sudha Kongara later approached the Revising Committee in Mumbai as she felt the cuts would affect the film’s story and meaning. So far there is no official statement from the team.
The film stars Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela. Set in 1960s Madras the film shows the socio-political climate during the anti-Hindi protests.
Made on a budget of Rs 150 crore and Parasakthi is Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film. Due to certification delays, the release has been postponed, and no new date has been announced yet.
